A few months ago, my wife and I moved across the country. While we were packing, we found closets full of old

A few months ago, my wife and I moved across the country. While we were packing, we found closets full of old clothes that we hadn’t worn in years. Unfortunately, our moving truck was already nearly full, and there was no way we could take all this clothing with us.

Fortunately, I remembered a friend telling me about Poshmark, and my wife and I decided to check it out. If you aren’t already aware, Poshmark is a social commerce platform for buying and selling clothing, and it has been a great blessing to my family.

It didn’t take long before our closets were liquidated, and we had made several thousand dollars. Using Poshmark, we could pay all of our moving expenses and still had a little cash left over.

After this experience and additional research, I realized that Poshmark could be a viable online business model. Not only can it help you clean out your closet, but many people make a good income selling clothes through Poshmark every month.

So, with the help of my wife, we created this guide on how to sell on Poshmark that explains how to sell your items on Poshmark based on our research and experience so you can make a little extra cash.

What is Poshmark?

Poshmark is a popular social marketplace that provides a fun and straightforward way to buy and sell clothes, shoes, and accessories.

For Buyers: The platform connects you to others in the Poshmark community whose style you love and allows you to shop their closets and boutiques conveniently.

For Sellers: If you have new or used fashion to sell, Poshmark’s selling tools allow you to reach millions of people to find customers for your goods.

Poshmark: A Brief History

Founded in 2011, the company is headquartered in Redwood City, California, and has over 300 employees.

This leading platform, valued at over $625 million, has raised over $160 million in venture financing. The company experienced growth of over 70% in 2018, which earned it a spot on the Next Billion-Dollar Startup list from Forbes.

Although Poshmark only makes up a tiny fraction of the $600 billion US eCommerce market, the demand for discount fashion is huge. With online retail growing rapidly, we can expect massive growth from this social shopping network.

How Does Poshmark Work?

how does Poshmark works

Before you learn how to sell on Poshmark, you should understood how the platform works and how you can utilize its full potential.

Poshmark works straightforwardly. To start selling on the platform, all you have to do is get your phone’s camera and snap a photo of an item. You can then upload the image to your Poshmark closet directly from your phone (which takes less than 60 seconds), fill in a simple description, and set the listing price for your item.

Once you’ve done that, all you have to do is share your listing with your network and social marketplace for other users to discover. The more you share, the more sales you stand to make. With the platform’s pre-paid shipping label is easy.

Poshmark takes 20% of the sales price for sales above $15. For items under $15, there is a flat-rate fee of $2.95. You receive the money in your Poshmark account when the purchased item is delivered and marked as received

The Poshmark dashboard is intuitive and user-friendly. Once you sign up, just follow the instructions to complete your profile and start listing your items.

Buying on Poshmark

For buyers, the process to purchase items on the platform is secure and straightforward. You can buy from other people like you or from Official Poshmark Closets. An Official Closet is an account hosted by a brand or retailer. Many popular brands (like Free People) have their own Official Closet — including Free People, Lululemon, Nike, Michael Kors, etc. To make a purchase, tap on the blue “Buy Now” button located at the bottom of each listing.

Next, choose your preferred method of payment (unless you have enough in your redeemable balance and credits). You can then review order information and tap the “Submit Order” button. And that’s it – you’ve made your purchase!

As you can see, the process of buying and selling is quick, easy, and without the risk of losing money.

The platform allows individuals to enjoy one-stop shopping for brand new and pre-loved fashion. There’s a diverse offering of styles, sizes, brands, and price points, and you will be able to find amazing deals for men, women, and kids.

Poshmark Success Stories

Many people use Poshmark as a platform to help them get rid of unwanted clothes without feelings of wasted money or fretting about how they’re going to replace the items. Many platform users go even further and transform this selling craze into a full-time job by launching their own clothing boutiques or start a beauty blog to complement their store.

Taken seriously, Poshmark can be a great source of revenue. There are countless examples of people who have successfully started selling on this platform to produce a full-time income to support themselves and their families.

Below are three examples of individuals who are doing extremely well on Poshmark.

Suzanne Canon: Suzanne Canon is the first to pull in $1 million in sales on Poshmark. The 39-year-old wife and mother of two started selling clothes from her closet to make a little extra money. Within five years, she had transformed her selling from a side hustle to a successful wholesale clothing business. She now sells on Poshmark full-time.

Ashley B: Ashley is a 32-year-old professional engineer from Houston. She loves all things fashion and joined Poshmark to buy and sell clothes, shoes, and other accessories that she loves. In less than one month after joining Poshmark, she became a top 10% seller and now makes a healthy income from the platform.

Haley Gibbs: Haley, aka @haleys_hanger, is a full-time Poshmark seller. Like many buyers, she loves a great deal, and she negotiates with buyers until both parties feel they have achieved a fair price. This is one of the reasons why she has become so popular and successful on the platform.

These are just a few of the countless winning stories on the platform. By September 2019, the platform announced that it had already paid out over two billion dollars to its sellers, and that number has increased significantly in the past year.

Positives of Selling on Poshmark

Whether you are casually selling pre-loved clothes or creating your own boutique, there are many positives to selling on the platform.

  • Simple Listing Process: On Poshmark, you can list multiple items when it takes you to list one on alternative clothing markets, such as Mercari. The entire process is simple and streamlined.
  • Easy Shipping: The process of shipping items is a breeze. There is no need to calculate weight and shipping for clothes. Buyers on Poshmark are charged a flat fee for shipping and, at times, get offered discounted shipping. The platform provides a shipping label, and all you have to do is pack the items in a Priority Mail box and drop them off at the local post office.
  • No Listing Fees: There are no listing fees on Poshmark, and you can start selling right away just by uploading images of your items with a cover photo and entering a description and price.
  • Large, Active Market: Poshmark has lots of buyers. The platform does a lot of advertising to drive people to its site. They also incentivize sellers to share more often, which means that a lot of people interested in fashion will open the Poshmark app every single day, thus allowing your listed items to reach a much larger audience than they would if you listed them on a different platform, such as Facebook Marketplace, eBay, etc.
  • Community Network: Unlike many major eCommerce stores like Amazon, Poshmark is a social commerce site that allows you to buy and sell items while building a community like you would on any other social media network.
  • Email and Push Notifications: Whenever you make a successful sale on Poshmark, you can receive push notifications on your phone and emails alerting you to the sale.

Selling on Poshmark comes with a lot of benefits. But, to make it worth your while, make sure you have at least 30 items that you can list. Also, only market new or like-new items and avoid selling anything with rips, stains, or signs of wear and tear.

Drawbacks of Selling on Poshmark

As with most other things in life, this coin has two sides. Although this online marketplace comes with tons of benefits for those considering selling fashion online, it also has a few drawbacks:

  • High Fees: Poshmark takes a 20% chunk of every sale. This is nowhere near competitive when other platforms like Mercari and eBay charge 10% and 13%, respectively.

However, the high seller fees are justified if you have well-performing listings. As many well-known brands and trends tend to go for higher rates on Postmark’s market, it makes the high fees worth it.

  • Need to Be Active: To move more stuff, you need to be active on the platform as a new seller. You must be willing to commit the time and effort to socialize with your followers and consistently share your stuff with your network, especially for the new sellers.

After all, this is a social commerce marketplace. So if sharing, liking, following, attending Posh Parties, and commenting are your thing, you stand to do well on this platform.

  • Limited Items to Sell: One of the major disadvantages of this platform is that you are limited to the types of items you are allowed to market. This is discouraging for people looking for diversity since it means they would have to add another platform.

But, if you’re looking to sell things such as clothes, shoes, accessories, and a few select home goods, then Poshmark is the perfect platform for you.

How to Sell on Poshmark (Step-by-Step)

Here is the step-by-step process for you to start selling on Poshmark.

1. Download the App: Your first step is to download and open the Poshmark app.

2. Set up Your Profile: Next, follow the easy steps to set up your profile.

3. Take Pictures: Use your cell phone, either iPhone or Android, to take pictures, and also remember to include a cover photo of the items you are selling. You can even take pictures in natural light.

4. Fill in the Description: Write a description of your goods, including all the details that your buyers would want to know.

5. Check Appropriate Boxes: You must check the appropriate boxes for category, color, and size.

6. Set Your Price: Your next step is to price things and list the original price of the actual item, and see how items sell at various prices.

7. List the Item: Click the “List Item” button to make your item live in the marketplace.

8. Share, Share, Share: Share your listing, i.e., a clothing item, with your network to increase the likelihood of getting inquiries or purchases and your first sale!

9. Accept or Counter Offers: Once the inquiries and offers start coming in, you can either accept or make a counteroffer.

10. Print Shipping Label (after the sale is made): Once you’ve accepted an offer, you can then print the shipping label.

11. Mail Sold Item: Now it’s time to send the sold item using bubble wrap, tissue paper, box, etc. Pack the items carefully, depending on how delicate it is. Then, simply drop it off at the post office, even use priority mail for faster shipping. Then US Post Office (USPS) or FedEx will ship the item to the buyer.

12. Wait for Item to be Marked as Received: The buyer has up to three days to mark their purchase as received, after which time it’s marked received automatically.

13. Time to Get Paid: Once the buyer has received the goods, you will get the money in your bank account. You can then request payment by direct deposit into your bank account or get a check.

Poshmark For Beginners (How to Get Started)

Just because it’s easy to start selling on Poshmark doesn’t mean everyone will be successful. Some Poshmark sellers do better than others, and there are certain things you can do to help ensure you are making money on this platform. I’ve listed some of the most important ones below:

Find Items for Sale

Finding things to sell on Poshmark isn’t just about grabbing any old something out of your closet. You need to know what people want and what’s on-trend if you’re successful on this platform.

You don’t have to worry too much about finding the hottest, trendiest items to sell when you’re just starting. However, as you build your audience on Poshmark, you will be able to discover the items that sell best, so you can stock up on those and avoid the ones that sell poorly.

Right now, you can focus on selling items you already own or even go to the local thrift store and pick up a few pieces of clothing at a discount price. With ease, you can buy and sell men’s, women’s, and kids’ clothing items and accessories on Poshmark.

Additionally, Poshmark now allows you to sell home goods, as well. So look around your house to see what you don’t need or use anymore. This way, you guarantee that you won’t lose money buying things that may not sell.

Clean Your Items

Once you have collected some items, look them over and only sell items still in good condition. If it has holes, stains, or obvious wear and tear, then you probably won’t be able to send it successfully.

Your items should also be clean and free from wrinkles or odors. So, wash, iron, or steam where necessary to ensure your products look their best.

If you notice any damage, make a note of it because you must disclose it in your product description.

Once you’ve cleaned your items and made sure that they are functional and presentable, you can move on to the next step.

Check Comparable Items

Although you can set any price you want on Poshmark, it doesn’t mean the item will sell for that. That’s why it’s always a good idea to check comparable sold products, or “comps,” and price things to the relative retail price.

For instance, say you have a pair of men’s hiking boots to sell. To find out how much similar boots have sold for, simply search Poshmark to see the retail price for the sold items.

When searching through comparable sold products, you can narrow down the results by color, size, or “new with tags” to help you match your item.

Remember that you can still price things higher and then take offers. A lot of sellers do this on the platform to offer discounts to their customers as a way to make them feel like they got a really good deal.

Take Quality Pictures

Once you have thoroughly cleaned and inspected your item, it’s time to prepare it for listing on Poshmark. The first thing you need to do is take close-ups of the item.

It’s important to take great pictures in good lighting to make your product as enticing as possible to buyers. You can take the photos with your camera and edit them, and then once everything’s done, upload the images to the app.

However, it’s much simpler to do everything on the app. So, open your Poshmark, pose your items, and then use your phone camera to take images.

Pro Tip: Pose your items in natural light and stand as close as possible while still getting the entire item in the frame.

Do your best to take quality pictures regardless of your equipment. As time goes on and you start making money on the platform, you may want to invest in a lightbox, mannequin, light ring, and other tools to help make your items look their best.

You are allowed up to 12 photos for each item. If you have to, fill those up with pictures from different angles.

  • Take pictures of the size tag and label.
  • Make sure you get close-ups of all imperfections or flaws
  • Take pictures of any damage or stains
  • Get a close up of the material
  • Capture the front and back of the item
  • If appropriate, take a picture with the clothing on

You want your buyers to have as much information as they need to make an informed decision so you can lower the likelihood of the item being returned. Adding all this information also helps to reduce the number of questions in the comments.

Use Keywords in Titles and Descriptions

You’re likely already aware of using keywords to help searchers find your products.

Most online shoppers on platforms like Poshmark search for specific things. They use keywords to find exactly what they’re looking for, such as “Men’s Denali Fleece Jacket, “ Kids’ Winter Gloves, “etc.

Do: Choose keywords that are a good match for your item. In your title, include the brand and style name whenever possible.

Don’t: Use abbreviations, emojis, or phrases and terms that are not descriptive of the product, such as “cute pants. “

In addition to helping users find your items on the platform, using the right keywords in titles and descriptions also helps your listing show up in Google searches. Ultimately, this will drive more buyers from the search engine to your closet.

Disclose Damage

Just because something is damaged doesn’t mean you won’t be able to sell it on Poshmark. However, you do have to disclose any damage to your buyers. For instance:

  • Does the item have any tears or stains?
  • Is the zipper not working?
  • Are there holes in any of the pockets?
  • Is there any loose stitching?

In case of any of these, make sure you disclose them in your description to avoid unnecessary payment delays and returns.

Include Correct Measurements

You need to include the correct measurements in your descriptions. Unfortunately, returns for fit aren’t allowed on Poshmark. While this is good for sellers, it’s a major drawback for buyers.

So, if you want to make it easier for your customers to buy your items, include all the relevant measurements in your description. This will also save you the headache of answering multiple requests for measurements from prospective customers.

Here are some of the most common measurements you can include:

Tops/Jackets: Measure from armpit to armpit when laid flat and from shoulder to hem.

Jeans/Pants: Measure the waist, rise, and in-seam.

Dresses: Measure from armpit to armpit, shoulder to hem, hips, and waist.

Leverage Offers and Markdowns Like Discounted Shipping

Offers and markdowns are among the two most important things you must understand when selling things on Poshmark.

Users can “like” or “watch” items they are interested in. This gives you the opportunity, as a Poshmarkseller, to send them special offers with a limited-time shipping discount, as opposed to lowering the original price for the entire public.

In addition to using Poshmark’s “Offer to Liker” or OTL, you can also host “Closet Clear Out” or CCO markdown events. This allows you to offer buyers discounted shipping charges if they purchase within the next six hours of you lowering the listing price publicly. Poshmark will pay the difference in shipping supplies, packaging materials, and prices.

Customer Service and Follow Up

Finally, as a pPoshmarkseller, you must always provide quality customer service, follow up with your customers, and respond to all feedback promptly.

You may receive positive, personalized feedback from your customers, but you will likely also receive negative reviews and responses to the product, packaging materials, shipping length, etc. Instead of ignoring these or lashing back, use them as an opportunity to improve your service and possibly transform an unhappy customer into an avid and loyal fan.

  • Buying at resale and altering clothes before selling them
  • …and so on.

There is no shortage of ways to make money on the platform. Below, we take a look at a few tips and tricks to help you in regards with learning how to make money on Poshmark.

What Can you Sell on Poshmark?

On Poshmark, you can have a nice side hustle selling female products such as fashion, accessories, select home goods, and new personal care products. You can list pre-owned items in good condition, but makeup and other personal care products have to be new, alcohol-free, and aerosol-free.

Prohibited products include:

  • Illegal items
  • Replicas or fakes
  • Products derived from extinct or threatened species
  • Medical products
  • Products requiring a prescription
  • Items that make medical claims (such as N95 masks)
  • Stolen goods
  • Misrepresented American Indian/Native American arts and crafts
  • Repurposing branded items (for example, taking a button from an authentic designer jacket and using it on another item)

If you list or buy such illegal items, you risk being immediately and permanently suspended from Poshmark.

What Sells Quickly on Poshmark?

Things that are in demand sell very quickly on the platform. This includes:

  • Women’s cosmetics
  • Levi’s shorts
  • Frankie’s bikinis
  • Tumi bags
  • Sunglasses
  • Loafers
  • T-shirts
  • …and more.

When you can discover what people want, it makes your job of selling things to them a lot easier. You’re better off going with smaller items that are easy to ship via Post Office or FedEx and don’t cost a ton.

Read the Poshmark blog to discover the best items to sell, depending on what’s trending.

What Brands Sell Best on Poshmark?

There are a lot of brands that sell well on Poshmark. Some of the best brands to focus on include:

  • Nike
  • Mother
  • Kate Spade
  • Eloquii
  • Levi’s
  • Rothy’s
  • Mark Jacobs
  • Polo
  • Torrid
  • Ralph Lauren
  • Tieks
  • Ray-Ban
  • Off-White
  • Golden Goose

Remember that even products from the best brands won’t sell well without an effective marketing strategy. However, any brand can sell well if you are good at selling.

Also, it’s important to note that you don’t have to sell only design items. You can make money by sending items from retailers like LOFT and Target. As long as you have trendy items to sell at a great price, it doesn’t matter where they’re from.

And since Postmark’s approach is community-guided, the more likes you generate on your posts, the higher your items will be placed in the platform’s search results.

This dramatically impacts your ability to sell products, and it’s one of the reasons why a product might sell instantly on one seller’s Poshmark closet. But, at the same time, it takes another seller weeks to move the same product.

How to Increase Sales on Poshmark

The importance of effective marketing on Poshmark cannot be overstated. First, you need to offer quality products at reasonable prices. But, there are other tactics you can implement to help you generate more sales.

Listed below are a few things that you can do to increase your sales:

  • Maintain Consistent Style: Use the same colors, style, etc., in each listing. Your closet has a brand, and it’s important to maintain consistency in everything you do, including your images, titles, and descriptions.

Doing this helps build trust with your customers and allows them to know what to expect when visiting your closet.

  • Share, Share, Share: One of the best ways to generate more sales on the platform is to share your own listings and those of other sellers. You can also use this strategy during the parties that Poshmark hosts for different categories, themes, and brands.

This is a great way to get more exposure for your items, and it allows you to reach a lot of people who are not your followers.

  • List Your Best Items at the Top: Always put your best items right at the top, where people will see them as soon as they arrive on your page. If someone is reciprocating your shares, they are most likely to share these items since they often don’t have the time (or the inclination) to scroll down to search for your best products.
  • Curate Your Products: Unless you’re simply using Poshmark to sell whatever you have laying around in your closet and around your house, you need to consider the profit potential of the items you intend to sell.

If you obtain products to sell in volume, you need to ensure it’s worth it after subtracting the 20% seller fees. Also, consider whether it would be worth it to buyers to purchase the item with additional shipping costs. For instance, if you are selling online a $10 dress, would it make sense for the buyer to pay $7.11 shipping on that item?

How to Bundle on Poshmark

Poshmark offers you two options to provide bundled discounts. One way is by setting the percentage off received by a buyer for a specific number of items they purchase, such as “25% off of 3 items”.

Once this feature is activated, you can publicize the discount in your listings to encourage viewers to shop. Then, with an effortless tap on the app, you can turn the discount on and off any time you like.

Alternatively, you can use the bundling feature that allows you to make an offer when a person adds your items to a bundle (or you add the bundle item for them). This feature also allows you to negotiate privately with the customer.

Either of these methods helps you generate more sales and prove extremely lucrative in the long run.

10 Tips For Selling on Poshmark

Here, we look at 10 best practices for selling on Poshmark. Master these tips to help you become a Poshmark selling machine.

1. Use a Template to List Faster

Using a template helps you systematize things and Poshmark makes it faster and easier to list your items. Deciding certain things ahead of time makes listing a breeze. Also, it helps you maintain brand consistency, which is one of the factors that determine how well you do on the platform.

Your template can include things like:

  • Filters for images
  • Descriptions
  • Lighting setup for photos
  • Background for listing pictures
  • The percentage for marking up items
  • …and so on.

2. Ship Items Quickly

Poshmark gives you a week to ship sold items, but you should never wait that long. The quicker you can ship, the better. Ideally, you want to ship the items in two days or less. Otherwise, you risk getting a less-than-ideal review.

If you find yourself in a situation where you need more than two days, simply send the buyer a note explaining the issue. This will go a long way in ensuring that the buying experience remains a good one.

If you sell lots of items, you can stay organized and still capture the two days for all your orders by going to the post office every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons.

3. Target Potential Buyers by Size, Brand, and Style

This is one of the absolute best ways to increase your sales on Poshmark. Rather than waiting for buyers to come to your closet to view your items, you can go directly to them.

During Poshmark Parties, you can use the filtering options in any feed to only allow items matching your brands, styles, and sizes.

Check out the likes on each of the items left after filtering – those are your customers. They are the people who have your style, like your brands, and will fit into your size.

4. Share More to Sell More

As previously mentioned, sharing on Poshmark directly impacts your sales. If your thumbs aren’t sore yet, then you’re probably not sharing enough. This is the way things are on Poshmark – the people that share the most sell the most.

But, you shouldn’t share just for the sake of sharing. You need to share the best content, with the best people, at the best times.

Most users are active in the evenings and during Poshmark Parties. That’s when you have the best chance of capturing their attention.

Try to share at least one party every day (the more, the better). And remember, in addition to sharing your items, also share other fellow Poshers’ items with your followers. Since every day is a business day, you will have unlimited time and resources and see which item sells the most. Most sellers will reciprocate by sharing your items, thereby exposing you to a whole new set of potential customers.

5. Follow Thousands of Poshmark Users

Although it’s not considered good etiquette on other social platforms, Poshmark accepts and even encourages people to follow crazy numbers of users on their platform. Having said that, if you follow up to 10,000 people in one day, Poshmark will stop you.

But that’s a lot of people, and while not all of them will follow you back, some will. And since this is a numbers game, just continue playing that game and growing your number of people following.

Try to get lists of Poshmark fans who have the same interest in style, brands, and size that you sell. These are the people who are more likely to follow you back and purchase your items.

There are specific tools like this one that you can use to follow thousands of people in just a few hours to help you save time.

6. Discount Prices on Payday

One of the most reliable ways to increase your sales is by dropping prices at strategic times, such as paydays – that is, Thursdays/Fridays, or bi-monthly on Fridays, the 10th and 25th, or some other close variation as paydays differ.

You can also drop prices when Poshmark offers free shipping to make the price even more enticing, so it’s more likely that your followers will make a purchase.

7. Become a Posh Ambassador

Being a Posh Ambassador comes with a lot of benefits. For instance, you receive an exclusive newsletter, and you get to unlock access to tons of exciting programs and opportunities. However, you must meet set criteria to be chosen as an ambassador, and you will be expected to maintain active participation in the Poshmark community.

Once you are chosen, you will be recommended to new Poshers, which will help to increase your sales significantly.

8. Exhibit the Proper Etiquette

Although underrated, this is an absolute necessity for succeeding on Poshmark. Treating your customers well makes it more likely that they will become repeat customers or advocates for your closet.

But, if you treat them poorly, you may end up with bad reviews that will cost you even more business.

When you get questions, comments, or feedback, always respond quickly and courteously. Never ignore customers, and always do your best to resolve issues as amicably as possible.

9. Add Extra Surprises to Your Shipment

This is yet another underrated tactic that can help win your lifetime customers. Is there something you can add to each shipment that won’t eat into your profits but will bring a smile to your buyer?

  • For instance, you can include a sweet handwritten note or a handmade souvenir.
  • Or maybe you can use fancy packaging, bows, fun tape, colorful tissue paper, etc., to make unboxing the item more luxurious and exciting for the customer.
  • You can even include a coupon card for a percentage off the next purchase from your closet.

10. When Setting the Price, Account for Offers

When you set the price of each listing, consider that most people will try to get discounts on your items.

List your item at least 15% above what you want to make from the sale (ideally 30%). When someone offers slightly less, you won’t be cutting into your profits by agreeing to a lower price. Better yet, your customer will feel happy at having managed to get such a great deal.

Poshmark Q&A

That’s it for the primary part of this guide on how to sell on Poshmark but now it’s time to answer some common questions about selling on Poshmark.

What Does the Average Poshmark Seller Make?

There are tons of success stories online about how people use Poshmark to make money every day. Some people make a few hundred dollars a month, while others have made $5000 in just 30 days on Poshmark

As with most other businesses, how much you make on the platform depends on many factors, such as the product you’re selling online, how in-demand it is, how big your audience is, and how good you are at marketing your items to your audience.

What are the Poshmark Fees?

While it’s free to list items for sale on Poshmark, after the sale, a set fee of $2.95 is deducted from sales under $15. For sales above $15, a 20% fee is deducted, leaving you with 80% on the final sale price of the listed item.

So, for instance, if you had an item for sale for $100, Poshmark would take $20, and you would keep $80.

How Does One Expect to Earn When They Start Selling on Poshmark? Even When You Have Offered Discounted Shipping?

Poshmark’s fees are straightforward. As stated above, there’s a small commission for each sale. But with that, you get prepaid shipping labels, free credit card processing, customer support, and buyer protection.

Sales tax is automatically calculated and collected to be remitted to the state on your behalf. Poshmark takes care of all this and more without you having to pay anything above the stated commissions.

If your earnings come to $1000, it means you will receive $800. If you earn $5000, you will receive $4000, Poshmark will keep $1000, and so on.

What does the Poshmark Shipping Label Cost?

Poshmark charges a flat rate of $7.11 for shipping on all orders. The buyer pays this fee, and all orders must be shipped within 1 to 3 days using United States Postal Service priority mail. Poshmark sometimes reduces the shipping rate for orders under a certain amount. They also occasionally offer free shipping to customers.

Are Shipping Supplies Costs Included in Shipping Fee?

No, shipping supplies costs are not included in Shipping Fees.

What is the Poshmark Post Office Return Policy?

Poshmark protects buyers who make purchases on the platform. When a customer purchases Poshmark, payment isn’t released to the seller until the order is marked as received.

Examples of items that may be refunded or returned include:

• The item doesn’t match the description
• Item not shipped
• Item damaged in transit

If a buyer has an issue, a report should be made to the website with supporting photos since Poshmark moderates return requests for the buyer. If the claim is verified, you will be sent a label to return the order to the seller, and your payment will be refunded.

According to the website, Postmark’s customer service is quite helpful in these matters, although there are many customers and sellers who disagree and are dissatisfied with the service, as can be seen here and here.

How Do You Get Paid on a Poshmark account?

On your Poshmark account, you get paid as soon as the buyer receives the package. Buyers have three days to accept the item, after which it’s automatically marked as accepted.

Once this happens, your earnings are automatically deposited into your account on Poshmark via direct deposit. As soon as the funds are released, you can request withdrawal immediately or keep the earnings as credit in your Poshmark account, which you can then spend within the app.

Can You Get Scammed on Poshmark?

It’s certainly possible to get scammed on Poshmark, whether you are a buyer or seller. This is particularly true if you are communicating via phone or email.

Some of the top scams on the platform include:

• Being sold fake products
• Receiving items that are not as described
• Buyers that promise overpayment to get you to hold on to items so they can pick them up from you
• Sellers paying with forged cashier checks

No company is infallible, but you can make scams less likely to occur by only communicating and making payments on the platform. Always avoid making any offline transactions.

Does Poshmark Sell Fakes?

As with most other marketplaces, it’s possible to buy fake items on Poshmark. However, the platform has a stringent policy against listing fakes or knock-offs, unlike other marketplace purchases.

Still, a few sellers try to get away with selling fake items from luxury brands, such as Gucci or Chanel, since these gross more profit.

Poshmark does its best to protect buyers from such scams by allowing them to accept or return an item once they receive it. The payment isn’t released to the seller until the buyer has approved the purchase.

What Happens When a Buyer Opens a Case Against me?

There are many reasons why a buyer might open a case against you. But, the good news is it’s not the end of the world if a return case is opened against you. If there is a legitimate reason for the return, the platform will simply refund the buyer, and you will be out of a sale.

But, after ascertaining the reason for the return, you can use that information to help ensure that it doesn’t happen again in the future.

For instance, if the reason for the return was that the item didn’t fit the description, you can improve and optimize your descriptions to give customers more information about the item, thereby lessening the chance of getting more returns.

That all said, I highly recommend that you try Closet.Tools to save time and make more money with Poshmark.

  • I’d like to hire someone to sell my clothes. I have so much, In overwhelmed and need help getting started. I looked at Task Rabbit and other similar services but they aren’t available in my community. Any suggestions on how to do this or ask someone for help?

    • Hey Jodie,

Task Rabbit would have been my go-to here. Maybe check out Craigslist or Facebook marketplace? Or, maybe just someone younger you know that has the time and pay them a % of every sale? My wife and I went through this when she started to get too busy to sell and her younger sister handled most of it.

      • You could also try angi.com (formerly Angie’s list) – it’s similar taskrabbit.com. There is also upwork.Com— freelance professionals in any industry . Hope that helps!

  • Does the seller process payment for items sold, or does Poshmark process payment? From the processes you have detailed, very well, that all credit card and/or pay pal payments are processed by Poshmark, and not the buyer. Thank you!

  • I just set up my Poshmark account, i have a customer that wants to make a purchase but I don’t see where to set up my bank information so they can pay me. I sent an email to Poshmark and they said I have to buy a prepaid Amex card, which makes no sense and I won’t do it. Can anyone give me some guidance?
    Thanks
