Let’s start with the bad:
I've been unintentionally lying to all of you in my income reports. This REALLY bothers me because I've always tried to give an honest picture of what it takes to "make it" online. But unfortunately, Google has forced me into lying.
By the end of this report, I’ll explain everything you need to know about what happened to me and what my plans are moving forward.
How it began…
I just realized about ten days ago that before paying me, Google Adsense has been taking what they have determined as "Invalid Clicks" away from my Google Adsense income prior to payment each month. I missed this because every month when I do reporting, I see one number in their dashboard....and then they change it later right before they pay me.
I didn't notice at first, but last month I was missing about $8,000....so yea, I noticed that.
How much have they taken?
This year, that number is right around $33,000. And no, that is not a misprint.
It should also be noted, I NEVER changed my ad layouts on my websites. This is primarily hitting "Website 1" and that website has had the same ad layout this entire time.
Am I sickened by this? Yes. My stress level is sky high and this was a HUGE blow to me personally and professionally. I've had trouble eating, sleeping, and simply living life normally.
And I’m not necessarily super upset about my own income, I’m upset because I’ve committed to hiring on some new people and now, I’m going to have to get rid of those people and reduce costs. This impacts me more than anything in my bank account.
Especially in a time like what we’re having now, I hate to have to do this to people. But business is business and I need to make sure I survive.
I've been working 12-14 hour days on other projects to attempt to grow other channels and though it seems to be working, this is one of the most difficult challenges I've faced professionally.
Do I think Google is being honest and forthcoming?
I’ll simply explain facts and let you tell me what you think.
Why am I taking this approach?
Because I’m scared of Google and my livelihood depends on this. Let me know in the comments what you think.
- The timing of this is interesting. We’re in the midst of a pandemic and while I’m not sure how Google has been impacted, I have to believe that they have seen less advertising revenue coming in.
- The only thing that changed is in November of 2019 I added auto ads. Otherwise, ad layout has stayed the same.
- My spreadsheet shows I never (historically) had this problem.
- Google announced in August of 2019 they would be cracking down on invalid clicks Interestingly, they stated: “This year, we’re enhancing our defenses even more by improving the systems that identify potentially invalid traffic or high risk activities before ads are served. These defenses allow us to limit ad serving as needed to further protect our advertisers and users…”

https://support.google.com/adsense/thread/31967306?hl=en - There is a significant problem in the reporting window of Adsense. If I look at the main report page, it says one thing. Then when I look under site view, it says another.
- After 3 email exchanges, Google Adsense support stopped replying to me after I brought up this issue. I do not know why, but I am no longer in contact with them. They advised me to add “sponsored ads” to the top of my units. I have done so.
- I'm powerless to all of this.
I've updated this page to reflect my ACTUAL earnings so far this year. I’d go back and adjust all income reports, but that’s not a task worth taking on.
That all said….I will survive. I always talk about how important it is to diversify your business and thankfully, I took my own advice.
What’s my solution to the invalid clicks problem? I am moving all of my websites to Ezoic. Why? Because they are a large company with millions of dollars and Google relationships that I don’t have. They can fight the battles for me.
How can you check if you have invalid clicks?
Open Google Adsense account
Click “Payments” in bottom left
Check “Transactions”.
If you have them, SWITCH TO EZOIC. They’ve handled this very well for me and I’m getting earnings again without issue.
What’s the good?
I mentioned this in a previous income report, but I was able to sell the website and in July everything was officially closed. I still haven’t collected the income so I’m hesitant to put it in my income report, but next month I should be adding a hefty $15,300 to my business bank account.

My income this month is far less than I usually make, but it’s important to remember that I had a HUGE increase in investment for the OHP website. I’m doing a heck of a lot to grow the brand and thus far, it seems to be working.
Personal Life Update
- Aside from dealing with all the stress and issues related to my revenue being decimated, I didn’t really do too much. My wife and I cleaned up the landscaping in the front of our house to make our front yard look nicer, we hung out with friends one weekend, and much of the time has been spent indoors trying to grow my business.
- My family has been largely untouched by the pandemic and though it has affected everybody financially, the health of my loved ones has been pretty good so that’s all that really matters.
- My wife and I were supposed to begin paperwork to move to Puerto Rico, but obviously now that revenue is lower than it was previously this may be something that we have to second guess. I hope that’s not the case, but we’ll see what happens from here.

Project Updates
Website 1 Update
- Traffic increase by roughly 3%
- The EPM has dropped, after invalid click corrections, to $51.71. While this hurts as it’s almost half of what it was previously, I’m still happy with this number.
- PLAN: Being that I’m dealing with the real crisis here, the first thing I did is move this website over to Ezoic. It was a simple transition and their team has been incredibly helpful in helping me navigate this problem.
I’m going to continue to test Ezoic for the first 30-60 days and if earnings aren’t increasing to an amount I’d like, I’m going to join AdThrive or Mediavine and give them a whirl. It’s a pain to continually change partners, but I found that every website performs differently and one of the best things you can do is test different platforms to see which one can help you earn the most income.

- One course sold this month and a happy student, which is good. Still waiting till 10,000 YouTube subscribers to focus more on creating courses.
- Continue to focus on guest posting for the OneHourProfessor website and creating high quality content.
- I haven’t seen a big jump in earnings or progress yet, and I think that’s going to be different in August.
- EPM of $40 across all revenue sources, not a bad month.

- Made significantly less than it did last year, but I feel like I could partly be because of the pandemic.

- Website SOLD. Income will be included on next months income report.
- I calculated everything and this website has netted me about $36000 in pure profit in it’s lifetime. That assumed I spent around $5000 to put the content up, which I think is accurate.
- This further reinforces why I think blogs and websites are such a great investment. I was able to put $5,000 in and it returned $36,000. This is why I invest more heavily in my business now than the stock market.

- MoM traffic increased 58%. This website is really cooking and I’m very happy with how it’s doing.
- Due to Adsense invalid click issue, I moved entire website to Ezoic as well. Spoke with my customer support rep and he explained some pages weren’t monetized because of “risky” content filters picked up by their system. Revised posts, these should be fixed now.
- Best earning month yet by a large margin.
- Backlinks continue to arrive, with no effort on my part. Got a DR 93 the other day, which was amazing.

Lessons Learned
Every month, I’m going to reflect back and tell you a few different lessons that I’ve learned. My hope is that the lessons each month will be a cautionary tale for you that makes it so that you don’t make the dumb mistakes that I do along the way.
- Don’t trust any big company with your well-being. They don’t care.
- Ad Networks have much more power than I do.
- YouTube Themed channels are a real thing and can make money.

To answer your question, it is a BUNCH of manual exports and uploads lol. I’m going to start outsourcing this to my VA every month, but yea, it’s just a bunch of data collection and there is no easy way to do it. I could make it less manual, but I’ve been doing it too long this way and it’s not worth making it more fluid.

I was very happy with them, but now they’re screwing with some other plugins so I may try to get a refund.
Yeah, that is what happened to me, the plugin didn’t play nicely with everything & it had all sorts of small issues.
I really wanted it to work nicely! I wanted to like it!
