Let me first say, I am incredibly busy as of late.

While business is going well, and things are progressing, I have to say that building a site in the “online business” niche isn’t easy.  In fact, the amount of competition is nothing like I’ve ever seen and it can be quite draining.

That said, with all of the hard work there will be a reward.  It’s hard to see it now, but I keep reminding myself to trust the process and put my head down and work.

This month my total income after expenses was $17,506 which comes out to $565 per day.

Also, make sure you follow me on Instagram as well @onehourprofessor.  Why?  Because I try to post there and show you some of the cool stuff I’m doing outside of all of this business stuff.

Personal Life Update

From a personal standpoint, life finally settled down in July.

We had a few painters at the house in the beginning of the month, but otherwise things have been very calm.

This is awesome because it allowed me to FOCUS and outsource some of the tasks that have been killing my schedule as of late.

That’s all for the personal update.

If this is your first time on my website let me explain a few things about my detailed income reports each month that outlines the money I made (or lost) each month.

I’m doing this for a number of reasons:

1) I strive to be transparent about what it takes to make money online.

2) These reports help me keep track of my own progress.

3) These reports hold me accountable.

Keep in mind, I don’t create these to gloat about my earnings. I create them to help you understand the true “earning curve” of online business.

On a side note, I don’t disclose my actual website URL’s on my reports because I’ve had bad experiences with copycats in the past.

So, in my income reports, you’ll see website generalizations like Website 1, Website 3, Website 5 Website 4, etc.

Now that we got that out of the way, let’s dive into the report.

Project Updates

Udemy Update

I don’t focus on Udemy any longer, but I have made money from them every month since I stopped.

OHP Website Update

  • For the first month since I really started focusing on it, the OHP site had a down month. Not just in traffic, but also from earnings.  While I wish Google would reward all of my hard work, sometimes that’s just not how things do.  It’s okay though, I think I know what the problem is and I’m going to adjust my strategy going forward to try to accommodate Google’s demands.
  • Pageviews fell to 72k this month, which is an 8% decrease MoM.
  • Referring domains increased to 1,844 and keep climbing as I keep focusing on more link building opportunities.
  • This month I earned: $7,465. This was the first month I had a decrease in earnings in 8 months.  I’m not happy about it, but ups and down are part of the journey.
  • EPM decreased to $104 which isn’t too bad. If I can keep that over $100, I’ll be in really good shape as things grow.
  • PLAN: I’ve started to put together the pieces to revise content.  I think this has been the problem as of late.  While I keep publishing new content on my site, I haven’t done a good job revising content and I think Google looks at that closely to determine the “freshness” of your site.  The idea now is to get a system in place for revisions, then find the right person to outsource it to.  I can say confidently that this is difficult to do.  How do you teach someone how to tweak content to fit what Google is looking for?  It takes years of experience and know-how, but that’s my goal for the site at this point.

Website 3

  • I have done nothing on this site for at least 12 months except add Ezoic and it continues to print money for me. I have no intention of working on it and will just let this sit as I work on my other projects.
  • Pageviews hit 247k this month, which is a 21% decrease MoM.
  • Referring domains increased again to 829.
  • This month I earned: $4,805. This was a decrease of 16% MoM.  This was another solid month for the site even though it was a decrease.
  • EPM increased to $19.47. This is mostly because I’ve just gotten less traffic to the site lately and earnings only had a small drop off.
  • PLAN: This site is currently 100% passive and I do not work on it.  I intend on selling this site once I’m consistently making enough from OHP to justify it.

Website 5

  • I have done nothing on this site for at least 12 months except add Ezoic and it continues to print money for me. I have no intention of working on it and will just let this sit as I work on my other projects.
  • Pageviews hit 83k this month, which is a 14% increase MoM.
  • Referring domains increased to 582.
  • This month I earned: $1,932 which is an increase of 21% MoM.
  • EPM increased to $23.25
  • PLAN: This site is currently 100% passive and I do not work on it.  I intend on selling this site once I’m consistently making enough from OHP to justify it.

Website 6

  • I’m happy to report that this site grew again this month with it’s earnings. Though it’s a slight amount, I’m happy to see the growth and I definitely think if I eventually start contributing on this site again it’ll increase the earnings.
  • Pageviews hit 15k this month, which is a 7% increase MoM.
  • Referring domains decreased to 163.
  • Earnings increased 4%. Not a big increase, but at least it shows some level of stability.
  • EPM is at $17.98 which is decent.
  • How Much Have I Invested in This Website: $5,718
  • How Much Money Has This Website Made? $2,446
  • Total ROI: -$3,272
  • How Much Content is on the Website? Keep in mind this website is mostly focused on affiliate content with some informational content: 222 Blog posts
  • PLAN: Production has been paused.  This site is currently 100% passive and I do not work on it.  I may pick this site up again in the future, but for now I’ll let it sit.
  •

Website 7

  • Another great month for website 7, it’s the best month I’ve had yet for 3 months in a row. While it remained close to how it did last month from a performance standpoint, things are looking up as I keep seeing an increase in revenue.
  • Pageviews remained the same at 138k this month, which is basically the same as last month.
  • Referring domains decreased to 379.
  • This month I earned: $5,611. This was an increase of 5% MoM.
  • EPM for the site this month is $40.80.
  • How Much Have I Invested in This Website: $35,620
  • How Much Money Has This Website Made? $33,526
  • Total ROI: $-2,094 (If I were to sell the website today, I can assume I’d sell for an estimated $150k. Which means a net gain of about $148,000)
  • How Much Content is on the Website: Keep in mind that this is an informational type of website, not affiliate related at all.
    • 1516 Informational pages on the website
    • 139 Informational Blog Posts
  • PLAN: Another month down and this site continues to chug along. It’s weird to me that the site has essentially the same traffic amount as last month considering how much more content we’re adding, but it’s okay.  This has happened before and as long as the site doesn’t stall for a number of months in a row, I don’t be worried.

Website 8

  • This site continues to chug along and I still have some faith in what I’m trying to do, but I really need to start focus on link building. The site itself lost a little bit of traffic this month, but gained some in earnings and I’m still waiting to hit the 10,000 page view threshold before I implement Ezoic to make even more money.
  • Pageviews hit 7.8k this month, which is a 16% increase MoM.
  • Referring domains increased to 156.
  • This month I earned: $76, which is an increase of 80% MoM. I don’t have an explanation of why this is, I think it may have been a few lucky affiliate marketing purchases.
  • EPM is now at $9.64
  • How Much Have I Invested in This Website: $6,964
  • How Much Money Has This Website Made? $806
  • Total ROI: -$6,158 (If I were to sell the website today, I can assume I’d sell for an estimated $1.5k. Which means a net loss of about $5,400
  • How Much Content is on the Website? Keep in mind this website is mostly focused on affiliate content with some informational content.
    • 227 Informational Blog Posts
  • PLAN: Continue content production of 3 articles a week.  Eventually put more focus on this site.

  • PLAN: This site continues to sit, I have done nothing for it in years.  Production has been paused.  This site is currently 100% passive and I do not work on it.

Website 10 Update (100% Outsourced Authority Website Built by BrandBuilders)

  • This is month 5 of the 100% outsourced authority website experiment. As of now, the site sits and is aging while I work on other projects.
  • Pageviews are zero.
  • Referring domains 25
  • This month I earned: $0
  • EPM is at $0
  • How Much Content is on the Website?
    • 33 Informational Blog Posts
  • PLAN: As of now I’m just going to continue to build links to the site myself and a few guest posts.  This isn’t 100% outsourced, but the content they’ve created is starting to gain traction in the SERPS.

Website 8 Complimentary YouTube Channel

  • This YouTube channel continues to forge ahead and although it’s had a slow growth curve, we’re closing in on earnings $1000 a month from an outsourced (and faceless) YouTube channel. We’re not there yet, but with the consistent growth it definitely looks like it’s possible.  If you’re interested in building an outsourced YouTube channel like this, I recommend that you check out this webinar.
  • Views hit 187k this month, which is an increase of 25% MoM.
  • Gained 747 subscribers this month.
  • Earnings increased to $812, which is an increase of 15% MoM.
  • How Much Did We Invest in This YouTube Channel: $2,170 (Estimate of $350/month in expenses)
  • How Much Money Has This YouTube Channel Made? $6,163
  • Total ROI: $3,993 (If I were to sell the channel today, I can assume I’d sell for an estimated $27k.  Which means a net gain of $31k)
  • PLAN: The team that my wife and I (mostly my wife to be honest) have built continues to publish a video every day on this channel.  Due to the success of this channel, we will be creating another new channel soon as we have all the building blocks in place to do so.

One Hour Professor YouTube Channel

  • The OHP channel is still sitting and yet another month passes without me contributing much. I don’t like it, I really don’t but I know that I NEED to focus on the OHP website and get that all figured out before jumping back into YouTube.
  • Views remained the same at 27.5k.
  • Gained 512 subscribers this month.
  • Channel earned $634 this month. An earnings increase of 9%.
  • How Much Have I Invested in This YouTube Channel: $3,927 (Estimate of $120/month in expenses)
  • How Much Money Has This YouTube Channel Made? $11,564
  • Total ROI: $7,637 (If I were to sell the channel today, I can assume I’d sell for an estimated $15k.  Which means a net gain of about $22.6k)
  • PLAN: I Want to jump in, I miss the channel, but I just have to stick to my guns and keep focusing on my blog at this point until I have more tasks outsourced. At this point, I’m working hard to outsource more and more, but until I can reduce my workload I just can’t jump on to the YT channel again.

Themed YouTube Channel 1

  • This channel went viral again in July, but as I’ve mentioned before, EPM is low in Brazil (which is where this channel is based) and unfortunately dropped a ton due to the Pandemic ravaging the country.
  • Views increased to 723k, which is a 163% increase MoM.
  • Gained 2.1k subscribers this month.
  • PLAN: We are still just letting this channel sit and print us money.  We would add more, but due to the low payout per 1000 views, it’s best to create a new channel in the English market and invest there.

Thalita YouTube Channel

  • Thalita’s vlog channel had another record setting month which is great to see. Right now the channel is growing very quickly and it’s nice to see this trend.  Hopefully it continues for a year and we’ll really have something big on our hands.
  • Views hit 57k this month, which is an increase of 150% MoM.
  • Gained 738 subscribers this month.
  • Earnings increased to $110, which is an increase of 137% MoM.
  • How Much Did We Invest in This YouTube Channel: $600 (Estimate of $300/month in expenses)
  • How Much Money Has This YouTube Channel Made? $156
  • Total ROI: -$444
  • PLAN: As of now Thalita will continue to publish two videos per week.  This channel is interesting because it’s a blog and she’s essentially sharing her life with her followers, but they seem to like it so she’ll keep moving forward with her strategy.  Now I think it’s just a matter of time and content.

Lessons Learned

Every month, I’m going to reflect back and tell you a few different lessons that I’ve learned. My hope is that the lessons each month will be a cautionary tale for you that makes it so that you don’t make the dumb mistakes that I do along the way.

  • Sometimes hard work doesn’t lead to results (Website 7 and OHP)
  • Outsource more than you think you can (Random Tasks)
  • Don’t take on too many projects (YouTube)
